It’s been a couple of years since I’ve last attended the Sabroso Beer Festival. Never been to a Sabroso Beer Fest? Unlimited beer sampling, Lucha Libre style wrestling, and lots of tacos available for purchase. You’ll even find some tasty Mexican-themed beers, Leche Borrcho anyone? But since last year, with the collaboration of SGE (Synergy Global Entertainment), it was definitely bigger and the event drew more crowd. Those of you who has never heard of SGE , they were the organizers who brought you Cali Uncored, the Punk N Brew. and many other musical / beer events. They’ve also moved the Sabroso to Doheny State beach in Dana Point from Oak Canyon Park.
One of the major drawbacks from the past location was the lack of cell service. Though it was remote and picturesque, getting an ride from Uber or Lyft was always a challenge for festival goers stuck in the Santiago Canyon area. Even with the a bus that was able to take you back to the Tustin Marketplace, many have missed the only way to get back. Trust me, I have taken many unknown beer friends down the hill so they were able to finally get cell reception.
But now, with the event at Dana Point, cell reception was never an issue. As for parking, it was available at the outlets at San Clemente. Conveniently, one can skip on paying for parking at the beach lot.
The Sabroso Beer Festival is so jam packed with events, there’s something for everyone.
- There’s the annual Chronic Taco / Gringo Bandito Taco Challenge Competition where you will find the World Famous (Known for Nathan’s Hot Dog Challenge) Takeru Kobayashi setting the record for taco eating. This year, he devoured 154 tacos in 10 minutes, shattering his 2015 record of 144.
Speaking of tacos, gourmet tacos were available for purchase. Tacos from Chisme Tortilleria with their Asada Chimichurri Taco won best of show. Other tasty Taco purveyors include: Chronic Tacos, Baja Grill, Banh Mi In L.A., Border Grill, Chef TLC’s Sidewalk Cafe, Chicana Vegana, Chisme Tortilleria, Coned Premium Ice Cream, Fiesta Gourmett, Good Fellas Taco Catering, Kitchen Culture Catering, Panchos, Pink Taco, Romega Taqueria, S&B Catering Services, Sausage King, Strictly Vegan Jamaican Cuisine, Tacos B4 Vatos, The Vegan Tamale Company
- You’ll be able to taste Gringo Bandito’s hot sauce which was started from Dexter Holland, Singer of The Offspring.
- You’ll see Mucha Libre wrestling in between band performances and spot professional wrestlers such as Silver King.
- A musical lineup in conjuction with KLOS 95.5FM.

The Sabroso Craft Beer, Taco, and Music Festival, more jam packed fun crammed into one beer festival. It was one of the largest beer festivals in terms of space I’ve been to along with some crazy fun entertainment. Unique in it’s own way, it also travels on the road to other cities such as Sacramento, Denver, Albuquerque, Tucson, Auburn, and ends in Portland.
