With the recent closure of Irvine Meadows (Formerly the Verizon Amphitheatre), I am happy to announce Orange County has made watching concerts a little bit easier with newly opened House of Blues located at the Anaheim Garden Walk. Located at the 4th level on the former Ultra Luxe theatre location, the Anaheim House of Blues opened on February 28th, with Social Distortion as the headliner.
If that wasn’t enough excitement, The Blues Brothers (Dan Aykroyd & Jim Belushi) made a GRAND entrance riding their Harley’s to the stage with the theme from Peter Gunn as the background music.
Belushi grabbed the mic and started by thanking many people including: Aspen builders for the new building as well as past associates at Disney for the former location. Belushi continued his speech by comparing this location to the former Downtown Disney location as, “Three as big, Two times the number of line chefs, Four Bars, Four music venues, and a massive concert hall.”
“Everyone from the whole world coming to the House of Blues and it is the biggest Grand Daddy of the chain. We have great people who understand the original vision of what house of blues was 25 years ago. Great music and celebration of the African American songbook. Southern Rural folk-art and Southern Rural food. That’s why we have the greatest Louisiana cooking in the world provided by the greatest chefs,” said Belushi
As an association with House of Blues brand, Belushi is excited for more openings in the upcoming few years with locations in Paris, Prague, Berlin, St. Petersburg, London, Nashville, New York City, Havana (Cuba), Toronto (Ontario).
Belushi continued all of this wouldn’t be possible without the help of Michael Rapino from Live Nation and Billionair JP DeJoria.
Shortly after the speech, Ben Weeden (COO HOB), Ron Bension (President of HOB/Live Nation), Tim Jorgensen (GM HOB Anaheim), joined the stage. In a traditional celebratory House of Blues grand opening joined by Belushi and Aykroid, the smashing of the guitars made the opening official.
So for your musical enjoyment with some Southern comfort, look no further than coming to the House of Blues in Anaheim to see your favorite bands.
