If you love to try out new restaurants and reside or play near the city of Long Beach, take note of the upcoming Dine Out Long Beach 2.0 Restaurant Week from February 19 to the 25th.  This year, some 40 restaurants are participating and prices start from $10 for two-course lunch options and $20 for 3-course dinner options.

New restaurants participating this year includes: Beer Belly, Roe’s Seafood, and Great Society Cider & Mead. In addition, Long Beach dining establishments such as L’Opera, Michael’s On Naples, Papalucci’s and The Crooked Duck are participating as well.

For you craft beer fans, definitely make your way and visit the newly opened Beer Belly with 20 taps.  The K-town originated gastropub  now located within walking distance to Beachwood BBQ and The Blendery on 3rd and Long Beach Blvd. has always been a favorite upon the craft beer community. Sure, Beer Belly like most has tap take-overs , beer pairings, and specialty theme nights. But what sets them apart is their love for the community, like their notable event from 2015 called #CraftforCrap  where customers were able to trade in a macro-batch beer for a crafty pint for a mere penny.

As for the food, owner Jimmy Han and Chef Wes Lieberher’s channels their creativity with a twist on modern comfort food.  Some of the famous eats are the Beer Belly Grilled Cheese Sandwich with cheddar, swiss, asiago, goat cheese, applewood smoked bacon, and maple served with duck fat fries. Or for something a little out of the ordinary, try the deep fried pop tart served with Ice Cream, Nutella, and Strawberry Sauce.

I was lucky enough to get a glimpse of Chef Wes Lieberher’s play on Fried Chicken and Pancakes (from the Fried & Fancy Menu below) where his creativity meets the unexpected with a Sweet Maple Fried Chicken on Hot Pepper Pancakes with a a brown sugar hot sauce.  Certainly unexpected and definitely delicious! But if the menu doesn’t tickle your “fancy”, you can always choose from their regular menu.
