WHAT:
Go Little Tokyo for a fun and tasty weekend, including diverse cuisines from the restaurants in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles’ Little Tokyo.  This one of a kind experience with authentic food, drinks, and fun directly from the heart of LA with, Delicious Little Tokyo. More than 50 participating restaurants and shops offering events, special menu items, demos and discounts.

Explore the culinary gems of Little Tokyo all weekend long with friends and family. The weekend festivities run Friday to Sunday and feature selected Little Tokyo restaurants offering events, special menu items, food and drink demos, discounts, giveaways, workshops, and more.

Friday, July 29
Starry Night in Little Tokyo, 7:00-10:00 PM — located at the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center (JACCC) Noguchi Plaza is the 10th Annual Sake & Food Tasting event hosted by Service Center (LTSC)’s. $100 General Admission. Must be 21 years or older to attend.


Saturday, July 30
Historical Food Walking Tour, 10:00 AM — Join the Little Tokyo Historical Society (LTHS) on a journey through Little Tokyo’s culinary past with a guided walking tour of historical food landmarks found in the neighborhood. Tickets are $15 per person, limited to 20 participants.


Obon Festival, 1:00-9:00 PM — Higashi Honganji Buddhist Temple’s Annual Obon Festival, a traditional celebration to honor and express gratitude to the spirits of our ancestors with food, games, cultural performances, and more. Free admission.


Kanpai Crawl, 5:00-11:00 PM – Join Little Tokyo Roots and Little Tokyo Vibes for a night out at some of Little Tokyo’s favorite spots after dark, with happy hour food and drink specials at every stop. $10 cash entry required upon entry.


Shochu Night in Little Tokyo, 6:00-9:00 PM — Enjoy an evening of delicious appetizers and shochu tastings guided by a knowledgeable sommelier. $5 cash entry donation at door includes a selection of shochu tastings, appetizers, and other specials. RSVP: EMAIL littletokyovibes@gmail.com.


Tea Tasting, 6:30 PM — Join Chado Tea Room, home to over 300 different types of tea, for an evening of tea and pastries guided by an expert. Free, RSVP required.


Sunday, July 31
Cultural & Culinary Walking Tour, 10:30 AM — Join Japanese American National Museum (JANM)’s and learn about the history of the neighborhood and sample a variety of Japanese treats at local specialty stores and cafes.$28 JANM members, $35 non-members, limited to 15 participants.


Free Ukulele Workshop, 11:30 AM — Explore the fun and accessible four-stringed ukulele with a free beginner’s workshop led by blues-ukulele artist and educator, Jason Arimoto. Instruments will be provided. Free, RSVP required.


Interactive Paint Workshop, 12:00-4:00 PM — Contribute to a collective, temporary public art mural with Mobile Mural Lab’s interactive paint workshop! Free to participate. At JANM, No registration required.

Award-Winning Film Screening of There is a New World Somewhere, 2:30 PM – Experience an award winning film that critics call “indie, off-the-beaten path, and mesmerizing” and “cinema, by and about women, that strives to capture a new look on the American South.” There is a New World Somewhere returns to Los Angeles for another special screening, presented by Visual Communications and the Japanese American National Museum (JANM). Filmmaker Q&A to follow. $14 per person for tickets.


Cocktail Demo, 2:30 PM — Join Little Tokyo’s neighborhood highball bar, Wolf & Crane, for a lesson in mixology. Learn a few tips and tricks from these Japanese whisky experts on how to concoct a perfect cocktail and have a sip (or two) of their favorites: the O’Shito, Tokyo Express and a classic Old Fashioned. Free, RSVP required. Must be 21 years or older to attend.
