You hear the old adage, “What happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas?” Well, unlike this phrase and most crazy Vegas Goers, I am happy to share with our readers, my experience at Caesars Palace from this past weekend. This trip was a collaboration between Caesars Palace, Jeff Wagner, and Yelp LA with 40 lucky people selected for this once in a lifetime experience. My plus one and I were guests for the weekend and while staying at the NEW Julius tower. (Which is the newest tower with modern appointments and a centralized location)
For this weekend, we also dined at Carmines, Bacchanal Buffet, Mr. Chow, and Serendipity 3. We saw shows at Matt Goss and Absinthe and we had our adult moments at poolside, Qua Spa, and the Montecristo Cigar Bar. To be eligible for this fun filled weekend, you had to RSVP on the event page. Out of 466 people, I was one of twenty fortunate Yelpers selected.
For this write-up, I would like to share some of the insights of our experience. I started my Yelp review but due to their limitations of 5,000 characters, most of the details will be written here. It wasn’t crazy, like spending time with your fraternity brothers nor was our time here like the movie, “The Hangover”. But if you like to eat, drink, and watch shows within the same hotel, Caesars would now be my TOP CHOICE for a relaxing getaway!
Here is a list of places we’ve tried over the weekend:
Carmines: The Family Style Italian restaurant which originated from NYC has brought over their homestyle dishes shareable for any large size family. Sizes here are beyond a “Wow Factor” and service is family friendly. It will remind you of Sunday dinners at your grandma’s with abundant plates of comfort food and impeccable service. For something a little different, do get the Spicy Scarpariello Wings, Porterhouse Contadina, and the “Titanic” for dessert.
MonteCristo Cigar Bar: For an after meal treat or a place to hang out with your besties, try out the newly opened Monte Cristo Cigar Bar right across from Matt Goss. The State of the Art Filtration with over 4,000 sq. feet area offers guests with a relaxing atmosphere with seating for 100. The bar offers Cigars parings with an extensive Scotch/Whiskey/Craft Cocktail pairings and a climate controlled cigar shop attached. But the most impressive insight was notably no cigar smoke smell on your shirt or blouse afterwards. From the menu: Do try the Japanese Whiskey or if you dare, the various styles of Macallans available.
Matt Goss Show: The talented British singer with his albums going platinum, embodies a show style like “Old Vegas” with a Rat Pack like atmosphere. With a smaller crowd than the usual shows, Matt makes an effort to personally meet every single person from the audience. With songs spanning from “Luck be a Lady” and “Hotel California,” Matt personifies his songs along with his 9 member band along with 4 burlesque dancers. Pro Tip: Sit at the bar next door to hear all the songs for free and peek a view sight from the show. You just won’t get personal attention and you’ll personally be called a cheapskate by the singer himself.
Bacchanal Buffet: Voted the best buffet from various National publications, it has a line as long as its list of awards. This premium food paradise in a casual, modern setting takes buffet to the next level with offerings such as dim sum, make your own porridge, poke, sushi, sliders, and of course Crab Legs. Must get: There are lots, but I’ll narrow it down to Stone Crab claws and the Peking Duck, because you’ll never find these at any other buffet I know.
Mr. Chow: The upscale Chinese restaurant with super modern decor and clean lines, makes you wonder if you’re in the right place. Taking the private elevator to the next floor, Mr. Chow’s upscale Beijing Cuisine is decked out in a white linens. With favorites like Walnut Shrimp and the famous Peking Duck, you’ll want to try out everything they’re known for. Note: If you do decide to try something different, their Crispy Beef. Surprisingly tender and crispy.
Absinthe: Raw, Raunchy, and a Real fun for the adults. This original circus theme act is located outside of the Caesars property with a more intimate audience than the usual big top. From the crazy aw-inspiring acts to slap-stick comedy, Absinthe is not to be missed for its wacky and slightly psychotic humor. Note: You WILL get wet if you sit close in the front three rows.
Serendipity 3: The little cute Pink Colored building seen on Las Vegas Blvd has a “fun-style” menu. “Bigger than your Head” pancakes and their 8″ donuts are a must share. Service in this 50s like diner is super attentive and friendly. In addition to the restaurant, the connecting area shares a “Grab N Go” for those in a rush. Also a retail shop inside the restaurant offers customers with a chance to make your own famous “Frozen Mexican Hot chocolate”, (with over 20 different blend of chocolates) a must order when at the restaurant.
I like to Thank the team at Caesars Palace, Jeff Wagner, and the entire crew from Yelp LA for having us as guests for a most spectacular time and a much needed get away for us busy adults. We enjoyed all of the above restaurant and shows and were treated like royalty, or in this case AN EMPEROR and with minimal wait times. It was Unforgettable to be treated like a VIP, something I haven’t experienced personally until this trip. This adventure at Caesars has helped us recharge from the repetitiveness of our weekly mundane lifestyle. You could too, just make sure you try some of the aforementioned above.
