Ah Sabroso! We meet again! Every time I see you, I look forward to Craft Beer, Lucha Libre Wrestling, and some Tasty Tacos. This year, it was no exception. 16 taco vendors, 1 ring, and almost 100 beers in So. Cal weather makes for an awesome event. In addition to the “Mexican themed beers, ” there were no shortages of those $3 gourmet tacos. If you didn’t make it out this year, this is what you missed:
Leche Burracho (Bottle Logic)-Imperial Stout brewed w/ Ancho Peppers, Cinnamon, Cocoa Nibs and Lactose Sugar aged in Bourbon and Tequila Barrels.
Cru’sin Corazon (Tap Fish House)-West-Coast Grand Cru infused with Prickly Pear, Passion Fruit, Blood Orange, and Pomegranate
El-Technico (Barley Forge)-American Red Ale.
El-Chango (Bootleggers)-Mexican Style Lager.
Dos Kratos (Valiant)-Belgian Golden Strong with Mango Salsa
Your awesome Taplist, of around 100 different beers this year made it difficult for me to pronounce the names. I ended up just pointing and said “Cheers!”
And this year I got to do a bit more. I joined @BeerandBaking and @OCFoodDiva as a Taco judge for some tasty Tacos. 16 Different Tacos to be exact. (HavenCollective, Porko Rico BBQ, The Kroft, El Mercado, Stadium Brewing, Dos Chinos, The Viking Truck, Sol Agave, Devilicious, Grits Fullerton, Latin Pour Vida, Falasophy, Working Class Kitchen, Lime Truck, MotoDeli, Downtown Taco Co.) Hey, it’s a hard job but someone had to do it.
Judging was a blind tasting based on Appearance, Creativity, Taste, and Texture on a semantic scale of 1 through 5. And since it was a blind tasting, I couldn’t tell you what tacos belongs to who below (So you’ll have to guess and match yourself) But I can tell you the three winners that we agreed on was Porko Rico, Falasophy and The Kroft. Congrats and congrats to all who participated, we really enjoyed every one of these tasty tacos.
