GARAGISTES – (garage-east) n, Fr. – A term originally used in the Bordeaux region of France to denigrate renegade small-lot wine makers, sometimes working in their garage, who refused to follow the “rules.” Now a full-fledged movement responsible for making some of the best wine in the world. Who’s laughing now, Francois? Syn: Rule-breakers, pioneers, renegades, mavericks, driven by passion.
The Garagiste Festival features small production commercial winemakers who are making under 1500 cases per year. They know there is lots of great wine out there from larger wineries, but their mission is to support the small guys and girls who don’t have big marketing budgets and the time to get out there and sell their wine.
On March 27th, 28th and 29th, visit THE VETERANS’ MEMORIAL HALL at 1745 Mission Drive, Solvang, CA 93463 and taste 30 DIFFERENT wineries on EACH day! One tasting fee, one place, over 250 wine choices. No driving around necessary…during the 3rd Annual Garagiste Festival. This by far is one of our favorite events of the year.
