Brought to you by the team that brings you Bacon & Barrels (one of our favorite events!); BUBBLYFEST By The Sea promises to be upscale, educational, with a touch of humor thrown in: this is a weekend not to miss! You’ll party like Gatsby from seaside Cocktail parties, to a festival on the Cliffs of the Pacific Ocean, and end your weekend with a fabulous brunch filled with music, sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean, and all the bubbly you can drink!
The festival kicks off on Friday, October 24 with a Gatsby-themed Cocktail Mixer at the Dolphin Bay Resort & Spa from 6 – 8 p.m. Gatsby-themed attire is encouraged. Unique Champagne cocktails will be paired with gourmet appetizers, the sounds of jazz band The Tipsy Gypsies, and stunning cliff-side views of the Pacific Ocean ($60/person).
Saturday, October 25 brings the BUBBLYFEST Grand Tasting event, from 12 – 4 p.m. at the SeaCrest OceanFront Hotel, where guests sample pours from more than 40 local, domestic and international producers of Champagne and sparkling wine. The event will also feature gourmet samplings of customized appetizers that traditionally pair beautifully with Champagne and sparkling wine, prepared by Field to Table Catering & Events; sparkling cocktail concoctions and musical entertainment. A photo booth will offer guests the opportunity to capture the moment and savor the outdoor event’s sweeping vistas of the Pacific Ocean, coastal bluffs and the nearby Pismo Beach Pier ($65/person).
On Sunday, October 26, BUBBLYFEST returns to Dolphin Bay Resort & Spa for a Sunday Funday Champagne brunch from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Staged on the ocean-side patio of the resort’s Lido Restaurant, the event will feature a three-course gourmet brunch prepared by Chef Jacob Moss paired with bottomless Champagne. The popular Dan Curio of Moonshiner Collective will provide live music to complete the light-and-fun ambiance ($45/person).
In addition, the Bubblyfest Grand Tasting event will feature two seminars:
- 1:30-2:00 p.m. – Brewer-Clifton and Palmina Wineries: Steve Clifton of Brewer-Clifton and Palmina brands will hold a 20 minute presentation about his extensive list of bubbles and the various methodologies employed in producing each. The talk will be followed by a Q&A session.
- 2:30-3:15 p.m. – “Stop. Saber Time”: This workshop will highlight the history behind one of the most exciting stunts in libations, which belongs solely to sparkling wine: sabering. Sabering is the bottle opening method that dates back to battlefields centuries ago in which a knife or sword is used to cut off the top of a bottle of sparkling wine. The detailed workshop will cover the steps to safely sabering a bottle, and the science behind the practice that releases over 90 pounds of pressure (almost triple that of a car tire) in one swift slice.
