Real Men Drink Pink: Rosé’s Day in the Sun

Rosé is all the fuss these days. From top ten lists in the LA Times to a cover spread in Wine Spectator, it is clear that America has finally shaken the “White Zinfandel + Blush wine” era and has grown to embrace all the cheerful, delightful qualities rosé has to offer.

Yet while rosé is no longer viewed as just a seasonal wine, there can be no argument that it remains the perfect summer drink. Bone dry, crisp, refreshing, and with layers of bright fruit, rosé is the ultimate wine to pair with summer food or start a party.  And while I adore the elegant and subtly nuanced rosés from Provence, it is about time to give California rosés their day in the sun.

The Real Men Drink Pink event, taking place next week in Paso Robles looks to do just that. The outdoor festival is taking place Saturday June 21st at Star Farms in Paso Robles – a half-acre lagoon oasis with panoramic views of the surrounding vineyards. Featuring over 30 of the top rosé producers in Paso Robles alongside some food pairings prepared by some of the area’s best culinary gems, this unique event looks to dispel any misconceptions about rosé while celebrating everything there is to love about this special wine.

Event host and winemaker of Cypher Winery Christian Tietje:

“We’ve put together the perfect summer beach party around rosé wine – sarongs, beaches, palm trees, swimming, great music – it’s perfect. This event is an answer to the crazy rosé movement that’s been going on the last few years around the world. Neil Collins, Stephan Asseo and I all wanted to do an event around rosé wines, and this one has really come together well. We’ve done a lot of tastings over the years, for this event we have a focused grand tasting for 2 hours, then we move everyone over to the tiki bars where they can buy glasses of rosé, relax and just have a great time.”

Better yet- all proceeds from the event will go to support the Cancer Support Community’s Breast Cancer Care Fund – so you can feel good about yourself while you have that second fourth glass of rosé.

Tickets are $70 and can be purchased here or at the gate!

Just remember- This is NOT your mother’s White Zinfandel!
