Since I began delving into the craft beer scene, two things have always been the question, what beer to drink? And where to get it? Finding a place like 1321 Downtown Taproom in the heart of Old Town Torrance you get both questions answered. The Taproom has been like a home of some sense where I can find new beers to try and a bartender who is like a confidant that can help you make delicious draft decisions.
The scenery is like that of an elegant gastro pub with the hometown attitude. The locals of this Old Town Torrance area are a mixed crowd of new generation craft beer drinkers to the veteran beer connoisseurs who love to give stories of how they grew up in this town. Walking in to 1321 taproom you receive warm greetings like if you were walking into a relatives home.
1321 is not like any other taproom around the south bay, not only do they carry a great selection of craft beer on their 16 tap system built by their bar manager and bartender Dave Perez Jr., they also carry fine liquors as well; aged whiskeys, excellent cognacs and some superb tequilas. They make some pretty incredible cocktails.
with the introduction of a new phone app run juke box system “JukeHero” you can come in and with a few taps of your smart phone just by downloading the app, you can set the mood and create your very own experience all while sharing a glass with fellow craft patrons and friends.
If you knew of this terrific taproom and had driven by in the last couple of months you would have seen their doors closed, and to everyone’s surprise there was no word on why. However having time off, changing their focus from a cuisine based restaurant to a more bar forward type joint and with a grand opening coming within a few weeks it looks like they have found a perfect balance and are here to stay for the long run.
