Favorite Bites at The Taste

The long, hot Labor Day weekend has come to a close but not without sampling some of the best restaurants that Los Angeles has to offer. The Taste returned to Paramount Studios once again for 5 food centric events that left us satisfied but most of all, full. We wanted to focus on what dishes really stood out for us. Obviously, a few might have slipped through the cracks because we were either beyond full or our feet were too slow and legs too tired to wait on certain lines. We managed to eat a lot, maybe too much and below is a small list of the dishes that we loved.

Some of our favorite dishes from the weekend are highlighted below:

Pizza Antica’s porchetta sandwich with onions agrodolce served on a mini crispy baguette. This was our very first bite at The Taste and it was the perfect greeting.

The biggest surprise for me was Lyfe Kitchen’s Chocolate Budino with Pomegranate Soaked Chia Seeds and Toasted Almonds. I am not the biggest fan of desserts but with one bite of this magnificent dish and I was hooked.

Having the strong desire to visit Rivabella, this was our perfect opportunity to sample the menu. Their Nidi di Rondine definitely lived up to the hype. This dish was Nested Pasta with Italian Ham and Parmigiano Cream that melted in your mouth.

Maybe not the most flattering picture to date but who cares, this thing was ridiculous. Jason Neroni of Superba Snack Bar made an incredible fried chicken with red wine glaze, pickled Fresno chili and Parmigiana. If there weren’t so many more dishes to try, I would have had about a bucket worth of these things.

I know what you are thinking, why on earth is there a picture of a bag of Fritos on here? A frito pie is nothing new to me but that being said, I never had one before this. Fred 62 topped their version with smoked brisket and I can honestly say that no other frito pie will ever live up to that work of art.

Inn of the Seventh Ray delivered one of the best dishes of the entire weekend. Uni and corn chawanmushi with bonito popcorn, truffle salt and Yuzu tamari gel. I was tempted to snag about a dozen of these little treats and go hide in a corner somewhere.
